OVERVIEW

We are committed to the training and equipping of Haitian educators through professional development. Our 72-hour School Quality Assurance program provides participants with research-based, student-centered strategies that transform classroom culture. This training is conducted over a three-year span. All materials and trainings are hosted in Haitian Creole and are designed to engage educators in collaborative learning structures. Discussions, debates, group challenges, and other constructivist activities are used to engage participants. All participants are seen as co-creators in the P4H training experience as they bring their knowledge and rich experiences into each session.

Before the professional development begins, P4H Education Specialists conduct an in-depth school assessment, which includes classroom observations, interviews, and surveys. This assessment informs the pedagogical interventions and provides baseline data for future evaluations. After the training, educators are asked engage in continued observations while conducting peer-classroom observations. Directors of schools are provided with continued follow-up phone support and monitoring.

PROGRAM STRATEGY

  1. In-School Educator Professional Development for Haitian Schools (EPD)

    • In-School EPD is an intensive 3-year program focused on long-term educator empowerment through research-based strategies.

    • The program includes 72 contact hours, a Pedagogical Resource Book, Director Training, Teacher Observation Plans, School Assessment & Diagnostic, as well as admission into the Annual EPDC.

    • This program is led by our full-time staff of Education Specialists in Haiti.

  2. National Educator Professional Development Conference (EPDC)

    • The EPDC is an Annual Conference where we invite US educators to share their expertise of research-based strategies with Haitian educators.

    • The conference is open to educators from all over the country and is held during the month of July. Admission is waived for educators who’ve participated in our In-School EPD Program.

    • The conference allows Haitian educators the opportunity to learn of new strategies and network with educators from the entire country.

  3. Kominote Pwofesè Ayisyen

    • P4H's Trainers facilitate an interactive Facebook page open to any Haitian teacher. The goal is to provide an encouraging environment where teachers can learn and grow in their profession.

  4. Research & Evaluation

    • We are invested in tracking our impact and ensuring that we are meeting the needs of Haitian educators. This is accomplished through ongoing evaluation at every step of our strategy.

Note: All our programs are conducted in Haitian-Creole.
